John Sloss Howard

John Sloss Howard happily “shuffled off this mortal coil” on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Born in Ames, Iowa, on December 29, 1931, John grew up with a desire to enjoy beauty — and found much in objects and vistas across the world. Please remember him as a traveler, of both mind and body. He saw many corners of the earth, and his thoughts ranged widely. Over the hill and far away always appealed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, of 67 years. He is survived by his family, of which he was extremely proud: daughter Mary Alice of Boston, MA; son Jimmy of El Dorado, AR and his wife, Patty; grandchildren Raley and Mason; and much enjoyed great-grandson Jaxson.

He leaves with the wish that you will always find yourself in pleasant circumstances and with bright prospects. Now, it’s off “to a better land” (or so he is told). So now we say, “Adieu Dad, good show!”
