John Christopher Worthington, 42, of College Station, Texas passed away March 26, 2024 at his home due to a long battle with Chronic Kidney Disease. John was born in Bryan, Texas on November 24, 1981.
John attended Blinn Junior College with a major in Music and Sam Houston State University with a major in Music Composition. John was a skilled musician. He leaves behind a legacy of music composed from the depths of his soul. John learned the guitar at an early age and never stopped playing, even as his illness began to consume his energy. Many of John’s friends and loved ones will forever remember his dedication to his craft and the passion with which he endlessly composed and performed music that moved us.
John resided most of his life in the Bryan/College Station area. Prior to becoming ill, he also enjoyed six very happy years on the island of San Juan in Friday Harbor, Washington. In Friday Harbor, John owned a business in stone masonry and landscape architecture. That business was a great source of pride and joy for him. His artistic expressions in stone will live on for many years to come on his favorite island!
John was loved by a village of us who always saw and appreciated the special gifts that he brought into this Universe. He was our John, our one-of-a-kind John. His mother nicknamed John “Beautiful Spirit” when he was a toddler and truly, even in his times of struggle, John’s spirit was wondrous. He will be remembered for his brilliant intellect, his astounding grasp of language and all things analytic, his loquacious and exhaustive explanations for all the things (ALL the things!), his devotion to and passion for his music performance and composition, his love of nature and animals, and most especially, his intensely devoted love for his family. He will be greatly missed but never, ever forgotten.
John is survived by his mother, Dr. Tammy Jackson; sister Christina Masterson (husband Eric); brother James Worthington (wife Maggie), and brother Anthony Jackson (wife Jennifer), as well an aunt and uncle, nieces, a nephew, cousins, and his much-loved stepmother, Meredyth Hackerott.
The family asks that memorial donations be provided to the American Kidney Fund. https://www.kidneyfund.org/ 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD, 20852
