John “Buddy” Carl Terry, 62, of College Station, Texas passed away on January 28, 2021.
Buddy was born to Dorothy Jean and John Beve Terry on September 1, of 1958. As a child, Buddy was raised in the Baptist faith and regularly attended First Baptist Church of Caldwell. He was an artist who loved to draw and a fan of Charlie Brown cartoons. He attended Caldwell High School and was in the graduating class of 1976. His favorite pastime in his high school years was playing tennis and golf with his siblings and his friends. His love for Chevrolet began in high school where he received his first car: a 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. His most prized possession was his 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Indy 500 Pace car which he would later take on his honeymoon. His other favorite cars included his 1970 red, black convertible top Chevrolet Stingray and his most recent, a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro, Hot Wheels edition released for the Hot Wheels 50th anniversary.
Buddy met his wife to be, Lottie Marie Jaster, a resident of Brenham, in 1979 at the Washington County Fair. They married in 1983. They were blessed with three boys, Bradley born 1990, Christopher born 1991, and Aaron born 1994. Buddy and Lottie were very proud that their three sons graduated from college and are leading successful and productive lives. He was blessed to find someone who loved tennis, gardening, and long walks on a nice day as much as he did. Buddy was a proud father and spent much of his time playing or watching various Texas sports with his sons. He wouldn’t miss an opportunity to take his sons to any Longhorns game whether it be football, baseball, or basketball. Buddy and Lottie would often take their sons to Caldwell to go fishing. Lottie passed in February of 2020 and despite his loss, Buddy never stopped making sure that their garden was well-kept and always blossoming.
As an adult, Buddy attended Grace Bible Church- Southwood Campus and enjoyed watching Les Feldick online bible studies which he shared with his sons. Buddy was also a craftsman and master collector. He had an affinity for collecting all sorts of stamps but preferred his war-era or space-themed stamps. He also loved train sets and even built his own when the kids were young. From vintage aluminum christmas trees and baseball cards to Pixar toys, he loved to collect things that brought both him and his family joy. Some of his favorite television shows he watched regularly were: Svengoolie, Hogan’s Heroes, and MASH.
During his high school years and during the summer Buddy worked at Perry’s Five and Dime in Caldwell, Texas. After high school, he attended Blinn College and received an Associate Degree in 1978. After graduating from Blinn College, Buddy worked at Moore Paper Company. Buddy then accepted a position at the Bryan Post Office, as a Distribution Clerk, where he retired in 2013 after over 30 years of service. He was well known for his reliability and consistency which led to him making most of his friends at both the Bryan and College Station post offices. Upon retirement, he briefly worked at Postal Plus and then employed at the College Station Medical Center until he decided to be a full time caretaker for Lottie.
Buddy is survived by his three sons, Bradley (Christina) Terry of Kingwood, Texas, Christopher Terry of Houston, Texas, and Aaron Terry (Fiancée, Peyton Redmond) of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashton, Adaline, and Axel Terry; his sister, Beverly Terry (Rafie McCullar); his brother, Charles (Donna) Terry; his brother-in-law, Frank Jaster; his sister-in-law, Vickie (Gary) Haack; his nieces, Rachel (Joe) Bellinger, Stefanie Jaster, Layla Terry, and Sydney Haack; and his nephews, John Charles Terry, Harrison Haack, Micah Jaster, and Warren Jaster; and a host of loving family and friends.
