Joe Medina, 64, of Bryan, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. A viewing will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan on June 30, 2021 from 10 am to 11 am. A service will immediately follow.
Joe was born on October 31, 1956 in Bryan, Texas, to Julio Medina and Guadalupe Garza. Joe was the fourth of five children. He was the only son. He was spoiled by his four sisters. Joe attended Bryan schools and graduated from Bryan High School in 1974. In 1978, Joe joined the National Guard Airborne Division. He loved telling stories about jumping out of helicopters.
While working at Alenco Glass Company, Joe reunited with a schoolmate, who eventually became the love of his life, Juanita (Janey.) Joe and Janey married on April 27, 1985 in Bryan. They had six children together. Joe worked for St. Joseph Hospital for many years until his retirement. Joe enjoyed playing on softball and bowling leagues. His other hobbies included going to the movies, listening and singing to music of all genres, and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Joe was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and Marvel comics and movie buff.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Guadalupe, his beautiful loving wife of 34 years, Janey. His father-in-law and mother-in law, Daniel and Angela Ramirez. His sister, Stella and brother-in-law, Ruben Garza, Sr. Two nephews, Roy Garza and Juan Monsivais, Jr. and brother-in-law, Juan Monsivais, Sr.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Vera Monsivais, Josie Medina, and Dora Vargas (Griseldo). His children Erica Cox (Chris), Luke Castro (Nicole), Laura Salazar (Greg), Jamie Reyes (David), Joey Medina, Apryl Orlando (Gryphon). Eleven grandchildren, Kristian, Kaitlyn, Megan, Jacob, Ryan, Aaron, Jaden, David Jr, Ezekiel, Elaina, and Laurie Jane. One great-granddaughter, Ariella. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Our family would like to express our greatest gratitude and appreciation to the tenants and staff at Crestview Terrace, Texas Home Health, and Agape Care for all the care and support for our father.
