Joan Marie Willis, age 72, of Anderson, Texas. Joanie passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital, College Station surrounded by loved ones.
Joanie was born on October 15, 1952, in Navasota, Texas to Jesse and Dorothy Walkoviak. She graduated from Richards High School. She worked as a Correctional Officer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice until she retired from Wallace Pack Unit, Navasota, Texas.
Joanie loved to fish, cook, garden, and anything else that involved being outside. She was spunky and kept everyone on their toes. She was kind and loving and had been a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her best days were spent with her grandchildren and great grands. We will miss her dearly but are at peace knowing that she has been made whole in the arms of the Lord.
Joanie is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Dorothy Walkoviak, husband James E. Willis, along with numerous uncles and aunts that she loved dearly.
She leaves to cherish their memory: Daughters, Shelly Mason and husband James Mason, Brandy Duncan and husband Heath Duncan. Grandchildren, Taylor Bayer and Grandson-in-law Justus Bayer, Haley Mason, Caleb Berrow, Lake Duncan, Emma Duncan, and Avery Duncan. Great-Grandchildren McCahl and Mason Bayer. Siblings, Carolyn Henry (George), Gregory Walkoviak (Joy), Tim Walkoviak (Kathy), Loving nephew Tim Jr., Best friend Janice Foster, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 11th at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson at 10:00 am with Rite to Committal following in the church cemetery. The family invite you to join us for lunch in St. Stanislaus Parish Hall immediately following the mass.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and condolences during our time of bereavement. Your presence, comforting words, prayers, and acts of kindness have been a great source of strength and comfort.
