Jeffrey (Jeff) Smith Landskroener, 76, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Bryan, Texas after a battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Bryan City Cemetery, 1111 N. Texas Avenue, Bryan, TX. Pastor Rick Sitton will be officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Veterans Section 28 with full Army military honors provided by the American Legion, Post 159. Following the cemetery service, a reception will be held at the American Legion, Post 159, 101 Waco Street, Bryan from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024. If any attendees are members of the Lions Club, American Legion, Brazos Valley Emmaus Community or Bryan Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, please show you support by wearing your membership attire (Emmaus Shirt and Cross) to the services.
Jeff was born July 29, 1948, in Easton Maryland to C. Smith and Andretta Landskroener. He attended Centreville Elementary School, Centreville Junior High School, then Charlotte Hall Military Academy. Jeff entered the US Army in 1968 with basic training at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, advanced training at Ft. Lee, Virginia, then a 13-month tour of Thailand and Vietnam. Upon return to the US, Jeff completed his tour of duty with ¼ Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division, Ft. Riley, Kansas with the rank of E-5. Jeff moved to Garland, Texas in 1982 and was a heavy equipment field mechanic in Garland, Dallas and Houston. Jeff moved to Bryan in 2006 and made Aggieland his home. Jeff is a proud member of First Methodist Church in Bryan serving on the securing team and as a A/V tech, a member of Bryan Noon Lions Club, a member of the American Legion Post 159 serving as the Veterans Service Officer, member of the Brazos Valley Emmaus Community, member of the Bryan Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dale. He is survived by his brother, Bruce Landskroener (Tina); 3 daughters, Elizabeth Landskroener Hershberger, Stephanie Landskroener and Kayla Wells; his fiancé, Jeanne Prestwood; 4 grandchildren, Gianna Hughes,Tessa Hughes, Joshua Ross II and Kaleb Ross; 3 nieces, Ashley, Taylor, and Erica; 1 nephew, Nathan; numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
