Janis was born on October 31, 1947, to Thomas “John” Henry and Sally Rucker Arnold in Sinton, Texas. Her family moved and settled in Bryan where Janis graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. After high school, she served as a flight attendant and then worked with her father at his BBQ restaurant where she enjoyed great barbeque. Soon after, she met the love of her life, William (Kenny) Bayer and they married on January 23, 1970. They enjoyed 52 years of love and laughter.
They would welcome three children into their marriage: Jared, Dean, and Paula. Kenny said that Janis never looked more radiant than right after she gave birth to each one of her children. Janis spent her entire motherhood providing a loving home for her husband and children. Janis wore many hats serving as team mom for sports such as soccer, football, baseball, softball, dance, and den mother of cub scouts, along with countless other activities. Later in life she was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, where she continued her unending support for them by traveling across Texas and the country to attend their sporting events.
She lived her Catholic faith daily by participating in St. Joseph Catholic Church activities such as the annual festival, Spring Fling, perpetual adoration, marriage sponsor, and was a loving foster parent to several children.
When Janis was not overseeing the daily operations of Bayer Electric, she enjoyed traveling and gambling with family and friends. She enjoyed holidays with her family, especially Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, and other family celebrations where she would spend time with her growing family.
In life Janis cherished her family and friends. She instilled a quiet, but a stern awareness, in the difference from right and wrong to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This was how Janis Elaine Arnold Bayer lived.
Her parents, John and Sally Arnold, and her sister Johnie Lynn Arnold; all preceded Janis in death.
She is survived by her husband, Kenny Bayer; her children, Jared and wife Mandie Bayer, Dean and wife Barbara Bayer, and Paula and husband Jamie Batten; her grandchildren, Colton and wife Shelbi Bayer, Justus and wife Taylor Bayer, Gaven Schultz, Camryn Schultz, Sydnie Bayer, Bradley Bayer, Madison Batten, and Hunter Batten; her great-grandchildren, Blakeli, Tucker, Kolbi, McCahl, Mason, Karsyn, and Kenneth; and many other family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic School in Memory of Janis Elaine Bayer.
