James E. Potter, Jr.  January 26, 1936 – January 8, 2022

James Everett Potter, Jr., age 85 of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on January 8, 2022.

Jimmy was born in Syracuse, New York on January 26, 1936.  After graduating from high school, he followed the Potter family tradition and served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years where he was able to travel the world.  Upon his return, he met Gilberte (Betty) Cloutier (“a French Canadian Girl”) and they were married in 1959.  He would always be quick to tell you that she was the best thing that ever happened to him.  They were married for less than a year when they welcomed a set of twins with 3 more babies to come in less than 5 years.

Jimmy was an athlete in high school where he played football.  In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling and most of all he loved to golf.  Mom gave in and learned to golf also and they played for many years together.  Some of his treasured memories were when he got together with his brothers Tom and Michael to play golf at different places around the country.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents James E. Potter, Sr., and Catherine Ryan Potter, his daughter Susan Ann Potter, and brother Thomas A. Potter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty, son Patrick J. (Debbie) Potter, daughters Kelly A. (Craig) Price, Michelle M. Button, son James J. Potter, grandchildren Christy (Terry) Service, Michael J. Potter, Danielle E. Button, Meghan N. Johnson, Kaleb J. Potter, Logan Price, and Heather Price, and great-grandchildren Jayden C. Potter, Aidan Service, Tristan Service and Harlow M. Price.

The family would like to thank Remarkable Hospice and special friends Gerlinde and Jim McDonald and Larry Potts for their friendship and support during these difficult times.

We love you Dad, you are forever in our hearts.  Until we meet again, Dance, Mr. Bojangles, Dance.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
