J. Quentin Henry

December 5, 1938 — December 9, 2023

J. Quentin Henry, 85 years old, passed December 8, 2023. He was born December 5, 1938, to Roger and Edith Henry. He married the love of his life Dora on December 5, 1959. His parents told him he could not get married until he turned 21. Therefore, he and Dora waited until his 21st birthday to get married at the All Faiths Chapel on the A&M Campus.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023, until the time of the service at 2:00 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center.

He was employed by R.B. Everett & Co. until his retirement at the age of 81. He was an active member of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA).

If you were lucky enough to meet Quentin or have him cross your path, you had a friend for life. He never met a stranger and made daily phone calls and Facebook posts to keep in touch with everyone.

He loved fishing and spent many weekends in Matagorda with Dora in the RV and out on their boat (Dora’s Follie). His favorite pastime in recent years was turning pens from any wood he could get on his lathe. He gave these as gifts to many people with the theme of their pen matching their profession, hobby or favorite color.

He was preceded in death by Dora his wife of 64 years, his parents Roger & Edith, his in-laws R.A. and Johnnie Bell, brothers Harold Dean and Charles Henry, grandsons Roger and Sam Napier, and Jason Henry.

He is survived by his children Robin Henry, Yvette Napier and husband Davis, J. Quentin Henry Jr. and wife Sarah, Kimm Knight and husband Randy. Grandchildren Marc Showman, Christopher Showman and wife Amber, Dakota Faucett, Justin Napier, Josh Henry and fiancée Kaitlyn Ulmer and Jon Henry. Granddaughter Jordan Knight. His great grandchildren Kathleen Henry and Hunter Showman. Numerous nieces and nephews. Two brothers Donal Wayne Henry and wife Neta, Cecil Henry and wife Marcia.
