J.C. Wager (aka Pop Pop) was born in Bryan, Texas to Gus Paul Wager and Minnie Louis Restmeyer on April 16, 1948, and passed away, at his home in College Station, Texas on April 10, 2024. He grew up in Bryan, Tx. He was the eighth of twelve children.
J.C. loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He spent many years as part of the Bassmasters and his garden produced the best tomatoes around. He also enjoyed playing cards and coaching youth softball/baseball. But his most treasured time was spent with his family.
J.C. is preceded in death by the love of his life, Virginia L. Wager, son Jason C. Wager, parents Gus Wager Sr. and Minnie Wager as well as his brothers Louis Wager, Lee Roy Wager, Don Wager and Gus Wager Jr.
J.C. Wager is survived by his children Christy Wager-Flowers and husband John, Jayme Wager-Whitfield and husband Bryan, Clint Wager and wife Heather. Grandchildren Cohen Flowers, Jordan Flowers, Payton Roberson, and Laynie Whitfield. Siblings Tommy Wager, Peggy Bienski, Billy Wager, Darlene Moffatt, Chester Wager, Jerry Wager and Loretta Emola.
Funeral service for J.C. Wager will be on April 22, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in College Station. Visitation at 10am, Funeral at 11 am and interment to follow at Kurten Cemetery.
