Jean Riley, 90, of Ledbetter, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Bryan. Graveside services will begin at 11am, Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Reliance Community Cemetery. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Imogene was born to her parents, Henry Davison and Frankie Houston Baker, on February 18, 1933, in Cameron, Texas.
Jean worked for the Plant Science department at A&M until she retired and they bought and operated C&R Bait Camp in Matagorda from 1985 – 1995. After they sold the bait camp, they moved to LaGrange and later bought property in Ledbetter and she lived there until her death.
She loved spending time with her family. She took pride in being a mother to her children and Nanny to her Grandchildren. Everyone that met her usually left calling her Nanny and she loved it! She was the most loving and supportive mother to us growing up and we couldn’t have asked for a better childhood.
Mother loved to take trips and enjoyed riding endlessly looking at scenery and especially the beach. Taking her to Port A was the last overnight trip we took but she loved it. She would always comment on the clouds and loved the blue skies.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Thomas Edward Riley; her parents and her son, Tony Lane Riley.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Suzanne Riley Krupa and husband Robert, Jeanne Riley Kolbe and husband Carl, David Riley; her six grandchildren, Dominic Angonia and wife Melissa, Josh Krupa and wife Amy, Tommy Riley and wife Jennifer, Chad Kolbe and wife Hailey, Carli Kolbe Holland and husband Clay, Harlee Paige Riley; and five great-grandchildren, Carter, Cade and Hallie Krupa, Lane and Cooper Riley, Case, Cheyenne Jean and Camryn Holland; brother Eldon Ray Baker, niece Tina Faulkenberry; numerous nephews and nieces; and close friends. She will be missed by all extended family of cousins and relatives who she cared deeply for.
We would especially like to thank Angel Bockman from the bottom of our hearts for taking care of mother, you were there from the beginning of her illnesses and stayed by her side until the end. You will always be a part of our family and we love you very much. Mary Ortiz was a blessing to our family, and we appreciate all the love and compassion she had for our mother.
