Helen Frances Leissner (Dedeke), 85, of Camp Creek Lake, Franklin, Texas went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2022. Helen was born in San Marcos, Texas, to Eddie and Norma Dedeke. She attended San Marcos High School class of 1955, then later attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College class of 1958 where she was a part of The Texas Iota Chapter of Alpha Chi, the Nolle Scholarship Society of Southwest Texas Teachers College.
After leaving San Marcos she later met Martin William Leissner Jr. and fell in love and ended up getting married. They opened up Hardy Gardens and she helped run the plant store for years. After Hardy Gardens was sold her and Martin moved out to their lake house at Camp Creek in Franklin. She enjoyed being on the lake and planting. She and her friends made a bowling team “The Pin-ups” where they bowled in Bryan every Thursday for many years and enjoyed going out for lunch together. She loved spending time with her close friends Barbara and Harvey Stavinoha, Pat Novosad, Jean Merkle, Janice Howk, Jean Dueitt, and Mary Ann Roach.
Holidays were her favorite times of the year. Helen loved to decorate and invite family and friends over no matter which holiday it was. She made sure there was always fresh food and desserts for everyone that showed up. You were not leaving that house hungry that is for sure. Always making sure to take plenty of pictures for great memories. She LOVED taking and having pictures of everyone! And if someone could not make it for a birthday or holiday she made sure to still make it special for them and send them some kind of card or gift just so they knew she was always thinking of them. She took great pride in caring for her plants and animals. She had the kindest heart and always put a smile on and always made everyone around her smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Leissner, her parents Eddie and Norma Dedeke, brothers August, Walter Carl, Eddie Dedeke, Jr., and sisters Shirley Corbett, Edna Guttery, and Doris Luersen, her son Marc Leissner, and granddaughter Nicole Leissner.
