Harvey Gene Simank

Harvey Gene Simank passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at his Bryan, Texas residence at the age of 88. Harvey was born September 18, 1935 to Peter and Nannie (Newman) Simank in Thorndale, Texas. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through eighth grade and graduated in 1953 from Thorndale High School.

He spent 40 years producing lignite power and became a pioneer in the industry. Harvey served honorably in the US Army from 1958-1960.

He was born, baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was an integral part in developing and chaptering Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield, TX.

Harvey’s hobbies included traveling, Bible study, sports and spending time with family.

Harvey is survived by his three children, Stephen Simank and wife Kristi of Georgetown, TX, Shelly Simank Crain and husband Dr. Gerald Crain of Richardson, TX, Buppy Simank and wife Jennifer of Bryan, TX. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Deanna LaRue Johnson Simank, and his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church in College Station.
