Harold Ray Corbett, Jr was born in Los Angeles, CA to Dr. Harold R Corbett and Eleanor Corbett on Feb 3, 1948. After moving from California at a young age, Ray and his sister, Beverly, grew up in Walters, OK where Dr. Corbett worked in his clinic and Eleanor was a loving homemaker. Like his parents, Ray had a love for playing golf and competed in several tournaments. Golf was a big part of their quality family time, and he could be found on the golf course many Saturdays well into his adult life.
Ray met his devoted wife of nearly 47 years, Paula, while working for Ross Perot in Dallas in the mid ‘70s. Their first “date” happened on a tennis court when Ray offered to fill in for one of Paula’s tennis partners. They soon married and had their daughter, Christy Rhea (“Ray”), two years later.
Ray was a highly intelligent man of integrity who valued family and doing what’s right. He made his career as a computer engineer and enjoyed woodworking for over 40 years using his talent to make gifts and furniture. Ray could build or fix just about anything and found purpose in helping others.
Ray’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Corbin Ray and Cara Nicole, who he bragged about to anyone he met. He was “Pa Pa” and loved them dearly.
Ray went to be with his Savior on December 27, 2022 and is survived by his wife, Paula; daughter Christy and husband Curtis Koether; grandchildren Corbin and Cara; sister Beverly Goodwin and her husband Frederick; nephew Michael Goodwin and niece Megan Lawrence.
The family will hold a private graveside service to honor Ray’s life on Friday.
