GORDON ROBERTS SMITH, a Navy veteran, born May 20, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, left us peacefully on November 24, 2024, surrounded by friends and family. He was 82 years old.

He will be missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Mary Smith, son Gordon “G.W.” Smith and daughter in law, Allison Glass-Smith, daughter, Sherry Harvey and son in law, Mark Harvey, his grandchildren, Hunter Harvey, Grayson Harvey, Grayson Moore, Taylor Eubanks and her husband Chase Eubanks, and by his great granddaughter, Ryann Eubanks.

Additionally, he will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and nephews as well as great-grand nieces and nephews.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Smith, and stepson, Ricky Sturdivant, his parents, Hunter L. and Blanche Smith, his grandmother, “Gram,” and sister Nancy Smith Britain.

He will be remembered for his jokes, his storytelling, and his music. Right now, he and Nancy are singing and playing guitar with Uncle Dayton playing the fiddle and having a grand time.

His family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to the doctors, the nurses, the support staff, and everyone in between that is associated with caring for the veterans at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center and the Fisher House in San Antonio, Texas. Thank you for the compassion, kindness, respect, and support shown to him and his family throughout his entire stay.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Wheat Cemetery, FM 2154 (Wellborn Rd.) in Millican, Texas. A reception will follow the graveside services at ABC Equipment, 8105 FM 50, Caldwell, TX (must enter Caldwell as the city in your map apps)
