George Lee Matson

December 20, 1935 — December 23, 2024

Bryan, TX

George Lee Matson, 89, of Bryan, Texas passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born December 20, 1935 in Houston, TX to GL and Charldean (Evans) Matson.

George spent his entire 40 year career at Shell Oil Company starting off as an Exploration Draftsman and, after several promotions over the years, retired as Senior Services Representative, Facility Planning. George took great pride in his work and in everything that he did. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially fishing, hanging out in his barn working on some project, and the upkeep of their 3 acres on his John Deere. His greatest joy was time spent with family. He had a way of making each one of us feel special and loved.

George is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Jack Blackman, and mother-in-law Mozelle Blackman.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly Ann (Blackman) Matson, who was the love of his life and he could often be heard saying “I Love that Woman”. George and Beverly started dating when Beverly was 15 and George was 17, and it was love at first sight. On their first date, Dad told a friend that “he was going to marry that girl someday” … a true love story. George is also survived by his two daughters, Deborah and husband Keith Kveton of Bryan, TX, Linda Rasberry of Houston, TX and his son Scott Matson and wife Karolyn of Tiki Island, TX. In addition, George leaves behind eight grandchildren, Kasey (Jonathan), Kristen (Caleb), Kaitlyn (Austin), Kylie (Perry), Taylor (David), Brandon (Jenna), Kalli (Garrett) and Lea; as well as ten great grandchildren; Kadie, Lucas, Ethan, Reagan, Hannah, Cole, Preslee, Wyatt, Aidan, and Kort.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Luminos Hospice who provided such compassionate and loving care. Special thanks to Angie, Madison and especially Kelly Kitchens. Y’all are Angels walking this Earth.
