Frederick Hall Hoskins went on to his heavenly rewards with our Lord in Cypress, Texas on May 6, 2023. Services will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home at 11am. Visitation will be immediately preceding the service.
Frederick was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the second child and only son of Harold and Niota Hoskins. He graduated from LSU in 1963 with the first of three doctoral degrees he would go on to earn. He married the love of his life for the next 65 years, Mildred, in 1957. Together they welcomed two sons and would go on to serve as the foundation for an extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frederick had a distinguished career leading the department of Food Science and Nutrition at Washington State University for 5 years. Additionally, Frederick was honored with two sabbaticals in Europe in 1979 and 1986. Never one to be idle, in his retirement he went on to earn two additional doctoral degrees: Doctor of Theology (2016) and Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies (2017), both at Newburgh Theological Seminary.
Frederick will be remembered for his unwavering faith, love of the outdoors, avid skills at hunting and fishing, sharp academic mind, impressive cruising record, and dedication to his family.
Frederick was preceded in death by his two sons Michael and Darrell; he is survived by his wife, Mildred, as well as two daughters in law, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Visitors are invited to express condolences at CallawayJones.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the LSU Foundation at lsufoundation.org
