Bryan

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we celebrate the life of Freddie Gilford Middlebrook, a beloved son, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who peacefully passed away Monday, December 16th at the age of 77. Born on April 17th, 1947 in Bryan, Texas, Fred was a contractor, music promoter, and caretaker for his mother.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents Luther & Bessie Middlebrook and his older brother Daryl “Dee” Middlebrook. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lesha & David Penny, Amber Middlebrook & Augie Meza, his grandchildren Morgan, Kane, Crystal, Desiree, and James, his nieces and nephews Rhett & Bridgette Middlebrook, Heather & Steven Byrnes, Holly & Philip Pessoa, his great nieces & nephews Thomas, Hailey, Nathan, Bella, Bea, Hannah, Charlotte, Sebastian, and Henry, many cousins and precious friends.

Fred’s friendships spanned decades with people of all ages and walks of life. He was a true friend with a brilliant mind willing to discuss and contemplate various topics of history, art, politics, maths, religion, & of course music. He was very well-read and had a gift for conversation and a welcoming spirit. He loved to read, draw, watercolor, and take care of stray animals & lost souls. In his later years, Fred made himself available as a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to share a good laugh with.

The family wants to express gratitude to the caretakers, nurses, and staff at Golden Creek Nursing Home in Navasota and Traditions Hospice of College Station for their loving care of Freddie and support to the family. We mourn his loss and find solace in the memories made. May his soul find eternal peace, and may he be embraced by the loving arms of his family and friends who preceded him in death.

The family will memorialize him with a distribution of ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts, please consider donating to his beloved Six Kittens Rescue (www.sixkittensrescue.org), your local animal shelter, or the Bryan Public Library.
