Fred J. Miller

June 26, 1935 — May 31, 2023

Fred was born in Brooklyn, New York to Sol and Ida (Goodman) Miller on June 26,1935. He attended Erasmus Hall in High School until he was 16 when his family moved to Cresskill, New Jersey. He graduated from Teaneck High School in 1953 and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He entered the Army in 1958
and served in Korea with the 1st Recon, 9th Cavalry. Upon discharge he obtained a position as an Insurance Agent with American Mutual Ins. Co. He later retired after 23 years with Allstate Insurance Company. Formerly of Barnegat New Jersey, he and his wife moved to College Station 2015. While living Barnegat he served as the Democratic County Committee Chairperson.

Fred loved baseball since his young days in Brooklyn. But he was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. In 1947 his uncle bet him that the Yankees would not make it to the World Series. And if they did he would buy Fred a ticket to one of the Series games. Well not only did the Yankees make it to the Series, but they won, so Fred got to see a World
Series game. He would always talk about that game in detail if someone asked him.

He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved a game of poker or Pinochle.

Fred was predeceased by his parents and his son David A. Miller. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Eileen (Cooke) Miller, daughter Linda McNulty and her husband Timothy, daughter Laurie Guzman, daughter Tracey Capehart and her husband David “Poppy” Capehart. Also his 6 grandchildren Benjamin Guzman, Evan
Guzman, Christina McNulty, Isabella Miller, Brenden Miller and Madison Capehart.

Interment was at Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, June 1, 2023.  A Celebration of Fred’s Life is being planned by the family.
