Frances West Allen, 98, passed away peacefully Monday, October 16, 2023, at Crestview Retirement Home in Bryan, Texas. She was born October 4, 1925, in Carthage, Tennessee to Geraldine (Ford) and Cordell West. When she was nine her family moved to McAllen Texas. She graduated from McAllen High School alongside some of her closest and dearest friends who she cherished for a lifetime.
On September 21, 1949, she married E. E. Mickey Allen, and shortly thereafter moved to College Station, Texas for Mickey to attend Texas A&M College. While in College Station she worked part-time at the newly built Memorial Student Center. Later when they decided to start their family, she became a homemaker. When the kids were older, she went to work for First United Methodist Church of Bryan, where she worked for over thirty years before deciding to retire. Frances loved Aggie sports, going to their football and baseball games for over fifty years.
She was proceeded in death by her mother in 1945, her father in 1972, her husband in 1997, a grandson Tabor Scott Allen, in 1988, her son Charles Lane Allen in 2012, a great-great granddaughter Blakelee Grace Thivierge in 2020, and her sister, Jere Hayden in 2023.
Surviving are her daughters Dain Schaefer and husband Philip of Kingsbury, Texas, Shane Dillard and husband Roy of Bryan, and her son George Allen and his wife Robbie of Bryan; eight grandchildren, Michael Feldman, Christopher Feldman, Anthony Salazar, Kati Rolph, Sarah Salazar, Seth Dillard, Kalli Greenlee , and Haeli Tineo; fourteen great-grandchildren, Megan Thivierge, Tyler Feldman, Britney Salazar, Kelly Salazar, Emma Taylor, Catalina Feldman, Celeste Feldman, Isaac Feldman, Kevin Salazar, Alyssa Salazar, Brooklyn Salazar, Wes Rolph, Clayton Rolph, and Ava Rolph; six great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Aralyn, Everett, Wyatt, Jane, and Meryn.
