Eusebia Rios Rodriguez was born on March 5, 1931 in Edinburg, TX to Guadalupe Rios and Nicolasa Gomez.
Eusebia was married to Timoteo Rodriguez on August 19, 1948, in Edinburg. Eusebia was a homemaker, and her first child, Gloria Ida, was born in July 1949. Her second child, Lauro Alberto, was born in Artesia, New Mexico in February 1952. Her third child, Timoteo Baldomero, was born in Ozona, Texas in May 1953. When Gloria reached secondary school, Eusebia worked in retail and picked cotton. Due to the nature of Timoteo Sr.’s work, she relocated frequently. She and her family lived in Mississippi, Utah, North Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming.
Eusebia moved to her final home of Bryan, Texas in 1972. She worked at Woolworth’s, Food Town, and Crafts Etc., where she made many friends and received the nickname, “Cheba.” She played a large role in Gloria’s life by helping to raise her five children. She would go on to babysit grandchildren, one of whom would give her the nickname, “Bebe.”
Eusebia passed away on January 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson, Michael, and her son, Timoteo. She is survived by her sister, four brothers, her daughter, Gloria, her son, Lauro (wife Patricia Rodriguez), eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Eusebia loved spending time with family and gossiping with friends. She enjoyed putting her grandkids, their spouses, and great grandkids to work. It is likely that everyone in her family has a story about a time when she asked them to rearrange stones on her lawn. Eusebia had an infectious laugh, and we were blessed to get to hear it.
