Ervin D. Autrey Jr. of Bryan, TX left the realms of earth on January 19, 2023, to join his Maker in the heavenly hosts above. He was 79 years old and passed away peacefully after a short illness. Lifelong friend, Brother Glenn Connor will officiate a graveside service at Bryan City Cemetery at 11:00 am, Monday, February 27, 2023. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Ervin Jr. known to many as “Tukin”, was born November 28, 1943 to Ervin D. Autrey Sr. and Norma Siegert Autrey in Bryan, Texas. He graduated from SFA High School in Bryan in 1962 and shortly thereafter he joined the U.SNavy. Tukin was proud of his 4 years’ service aboard the USS Bayfield, an Attack Transport ship holding up to 1500 men and helped deploy Marines in landing craft to the shores of Vietnam. He was an Engine man 2nd class.
Tukin loved mechanical things and became a master auto mechanic working in Baltimore and then in Bryan at Toyota dealers and was always working on some hot rod at home.
Tukin was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Tukin is survived by his brother, Russell Autrey and wife, Kathy; his sister Laura Mills and husband Bill; nephews Justin Mills and wife Ashley; Spencer Mills and wife April; and Cole Autrey. He enjoyed fun times with his great-nephews. James Moore, of Bryan, TX was a loyal best friend to the end. Tukin leaves behind a feisty fat cat named Boodro.
