Ernest William Koeplin

March 15, 1934 — January 11, 2024

Mr. Ernest “Ernie” William Koeplin was born on March 15, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan to Frank and Frieda Koeplin. He was one of 5 siblings in his family with 3 other brothers and one sister. He had a humble childhood in Michigan, and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1953. He has held many different types of jobs in his lifetime, including a newspaper boy as a kid, a machinist in the army, a truck driver, a bus driver, a telecommunications switch technician, amongst others. One of his favorite places where he worked was in Kwajalein on the Marshall Islands during his army days.

Ernie met his dear wife, Cristita Reyes, in the Philippines and they married November 16, 1987. They both moved to the United States in Texas where Ernie found a job. They both settled down in Texas and had their one and only daughter, Kristern Rose Koeplin, in Bryan, Texas in September of 1991.

He was a very pragmatic, simple, down-to-earth individual who enjoyed traveling, especially driving long road trips, watching western movies, listening to classic country music like Marty Robbins, the color blue, working on his cars, fixing things around the house, spending time with his family and staying physically active in his free time.

He was a truly loving husband and father who had many adventures in his lifetime and supported his wife and daughter in all their endeavors as much as he could.

Predeceased family members include his sister, Rose Koeplin, and his younger brother, Jerry Koeplin.

Ernie is survived by his wife and only daughter, Cristita and Kristern Koeplin.

Visitation will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan, Texas on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 at 1:00pm with 2:00pm funeral service following afterward.
