Ellen May Haltom Pullen, age 97, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on January 31, 2025, in Bryan, Texas. Ellen May Carter was born on July 13, 1927 to Lee and Esther Carter. In 1945, She graduated from Lamar Union High School in Lamar, Colorado, where she was first chair violinist. She then went to work in retail at Duckwalls. After meeting as pen pals, Forrest Ethyl Haltom and Ellen May Carter were married on February 20, 1949 in Lamar, Colorado. They went on to have 2 sons and 3 daughters: Roger, Robert, Louise, Carolyn and Dawn. In 1953, they moved to Bryan, Texas. They were faithfully married for 47 years, until Forrest passed away. On September 4, 1996, Ellen married Milton Pullen and her family happily increased by 6 children and numerous grandchildren. Milton then passed away in December 2011, after 15 years of marriage. Ellen, known lovingly by those closest to her as “Grandmother”, was a devout follower of Jesus and was a pillar within her church at Austin’s Colony Church of Christ; attending services even when she was unable to hear. Some of her greatest joys in life were singing, playing the violin and listening to music with family. Fully dedicated in everything she did, Ellen was a Tupperware consultant for over 70 years, making many friends along the way. She loved gardening, accepting awards for her floral arrangements at the Texas A&M Gardening Club and needle point, blessing many of her family members with her artwork. She had many adventures throughout her life, traveling with family and friends. She filled her latter days with puzzles, word searches, crossword puzzles and coloring with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grandmother is survived by four children; son, Robert Haltom and his wife Lori; daughter, Louise Langdon; daughter, Carolyn Bellah and daughter, Dawn Kehlenbrink and her husband David. Grandchildren: Thomas Langdon and dear friend Tammy Coleman, Chris Langdon and his wife Linda, Justin Kehlenbrink and his wife Brooke, Mathew Kehlenbrink, Grace Kehlenbrink, Zane Kehlenbrink, Aaron Bellah, Curtis Bellah, Rebecca Moye and her husband Demetri, Angela Richards and her husband Bart and Buddy Haltom. Great-Grandchildren: Makayla Langdon, Addison Langdon, Merrick Langdon, Gloria Mae Kehlenbrink, Anna Rose Kehlenbrink, Zacharia Rueda, Kerrie Rueda, D’Artagnon Rueda, Gabriel Rueda, Rachel Bellah, Jacob Bellah and Isaac Bellah. Step-Children: Cynthia Hayes, Doreen Couch and her husband Larry, Don Pullen, Loretta Robertson, Milton Pullen and his wife Evie and a host of many beloved great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, church family, friends and good neighbors.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Esther Carter; sister, Mildred Nidey and her husband Thomas; sister, Edith Marie Brown and her husband Darryl; infant sister, Evie Marie Carter; husband, Forrest Haltom; son, Roger Haltom; husband, Milton Pullen; son-in-law, Tommy Langdon; daughter-in-law, Martha Pullen; step-daughter, Connie Pullen; great-grandson, Caden Langdon and Grandmother’s life-long best friend Wilma Mickey.
She had many caretakers and dear friends along the way: Lyrene Salpetro, Myra Kretzschmar, Lindsey Roberson and Allyson Sargeant.
The family would like to thank our church family and friends for the love and prayers. Your support has been a great comfort.
A special acknowledgment goes to Enhabit Hospice and Callaway-Jones Funeral Center for their wonderful care. They have been a blessing to Grandmother and family in her final days.

Services will be held at Callaway Jones in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 6:00 Pm to 8:00 Pm. Funeral services will be Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00 Am. Burial services will follow at Restever Memorial Park Cemetery.
