Eliseo G. Perez, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born on June 15, 1937, in Gillett, Texas, to Jorge and Trinidad Perez. Eliseo honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His dedication to service and love for his country were defining aspects of his life. After his military service, he continued to embody the values of courage, integrity, and resilience in every aspect of his life. He never took his freedom for granted and cherished all life had to offer. His faith in God was unquestionable, and he began each day with prayer, a reflection of his deep devotion. Although he courageously battled dementia and Parkinson’s disease, he never complained. His passing came unexpectedly.
Known to many as Mr. Perez, he was the proud owner of “E.P.’s Barbershop,” a beloved local establishment, and a familiar face to the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University for many years. He was adored for his sharp wit and sense of humor, and his assertive presence made him cherished by family and friends alike. Eliseo will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elvia; his children: Sally of Waco, TX; Jorge of Normangee, TX; Orlando (Teresa) of Bryan, TX; Cynthia (Toby) of Edmond, OK; Joel of Normangee, TX; Nelda (Margarito) of College Station, TX; Jesse (Jennifer) of Bryan, TX; Eddie (Naomi) of Houston, TX; Belinda (Joe) of Burleson, TX; and Gracie (Phillip) of Austin, TX. His grandchildren also survive him: Andy, Jacklyn, Jessica, Marcos, Alyse, Sebastian, Reed, Melissa, Daniel, Lucas, Livia, E.C., Elianna, Christopher, Emily, and Gracie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by Nathan Berger, who was like a son to him, sharing a close and meaningful relationship throughout the years.
Eliseo was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings—Pedro, Faustina, Ascencion, Bernardino, Maria, and Carmen—a son, Mario Hector, and a son-in-law, Michael Norlie.
A viewing and rosary will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan, Texas. Burial will take place at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
