Edward R. McHugh, 90, formerly of Baytown joined the Lord on June 16, 2021. His family will receive guests during visiting hours from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20th at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, 3001 S College Ave in Bryan, TX. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 21st, at 11:10 am, Houston National Veteran Cemetery, 10410 Veteran Memorial Drive, Houston, Tx 77038.
Ed was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1931 to Dennis & Anna McHugh. Ed attended an all-boys parochial school and Augustinian College of Villanova College, graduating in 1952. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He then went to work for U.S. Steel Corp, enjoying a career in the steel industry until retiring from the Texas Works, Baytown facility as General Foreman. He married his loving wife, JoAnn, in 1978. After retirement, Ed worked for the Goose Creek School system and enjoyed officiating youth sports for many years. Ed loved golfing at the Goose Creek Country Club and world traveling – almost as much as he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis. He is survived by wife, JoAnn, of 43 years, his brother Bernard and sister-in-law Maureen, sons Mike and daughter-in-law Denise; Robert and daughter-in-law Sharon; Dennis and daughter-in-law Kim and daughter, Wendi. Ed has six grandchildren: Megan, Connor, Cameron, Sean, Carson and Cayden and two great-grandchildren: Parker and Jack. In addition, Ed has several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salvation Army or to your favorite charity.
