Duane was born in Los Angeles, California as the 2nd child of Olivia Uhrig Brenneman and George Robert Brenneman. He attended elementary school in Brawley, California and La Sierra high school in the Riverside area. Uncle Sam called him to military duty during the Korean War. Fortunately, while on his way to South Korea, the truce was signed.
After his military service, Duane returned to Southern California to continue his education. He met his future wife, Phyllis Kline at La Sierra College. They were married on June 8, 1959 and graduated that same month. The couple moved to Michigan where Duane earned his Master’s degree from Andrews University. In December 1960, Duane and Phyllis left to serve as missionaries in Zambia and Zimbabwe and returned to the United States after 22 years of service. In early 1983, they moved to Texas where Duane became the Director of Nameless Valley Ranch, a Seventh-day Adventist Church camp. In 1988, they moved to Bryan, Texas where Duane was the Pastor of the Bryan-College Station Seventh-day Adventist Church. Duane retired in 1998 and continued to live in Bryan until his death.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia, his father, George, and his younger brother Lowell.
Duane is survived by his wife Phyllis, his older sister Wanda Roberton and his younger sister Cheryl Redmond and their families.
