Dr. Frank Lee Kolar

March 11, 1938 — November 6, 2023

Dr. Frank Lee Kolar, age 85, of Yankton South Dakota, died on Monday November 6th 2023 at his home of residence. A celebration of life service and Burial will be 9:00 AM, Thursday November 9th, 2023 at Aggie Field of Honor Cemetery, College Station by Dawn Lee Wakefield. The funeral service will be provided by Callaway Jones Funeral and Cremation Center of Bryan Texas.

Dr. Frank Lee Kolar was born to Frank and Hattie (Kulish) Kolar on March 11th 1938 in Yankton, South Dakota. He went on and graduated from Yankton High School and graduated from Yankton College. He then went on to attend and graduate from Texas A&M University with a Masters’ in 1966 and, in the early 70’s, a PHD In Chemistry. Dr. Frank Lee Kolar worked for Texas A&M for 47 years in the Chemistry department from where he retired.

Dr. Frank Lee Kolar was a longtime employee of the Chemistry department at Texas A&M for 47 years. Frank started in the department in 1971 and retired in 2018 as a Technical Laboratory Coordinator. In 1977 he moved to Heldenfels and oversaw building operations and was deeply involved in the First Year Program, testing new experiments, prepping special reagents and participated in the TA training and coordination. He served as the 1st Technical Laboratory Coordinator for freshman chemistry honors courses and was the 1st Chemical Waste Coordinator for Chemistry. He was meticulous and passionate about his work, editing/ proofreading every exam for the freshman programs. Frank was also very involved in the Chemistry Open House from the late 80s early 90s. He was a man that loved to teach along with his coworkers and was fascinated in helping many students in the labs at A&M. He loved food and you could see his face light up whenever he was trying something new. He was a man that loved all sports and would watch countless hours cheering for his teams. Baseball was his favorite sport and would cheer on the Saint Louis Cardinals.

We would like to thank Baylor Scott & White for all the care by so many wonderful doctor’s (Dr. Juddi  Yeh, MD., Dr. Samuel Barker, MD, Dr. Robert Hathorn, MD.). We would like to thank Dr. Frederick S. Tan, MD one of Dr. Kolar’s long time friend and doctor, who was so amazing with him. He always loved when he would say I will be praying for you always.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Hattie Kolar, Sisters, Mary Ann Kolar and Irene M. Kolar, brother James Aldean Kolar.
