Deborah Sue Waskow

February 2, 1954 — August 9, 2023

Deborah Sue (Meadors) Waskow, affectionately known as “Hunny,” passed away, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the age of 69 in Bryan, TX. Deborah spent her last days surrounded by family and loved ones.

Deborah was born to Patsy and Jeff Meadors, February 2, 1954, in Hearne, TX. She and her older brother, Jeff Meadors, Jr., were the only children of Patsy and Jeff. Deborah grew up and attended Hearne schools, then went on to graduate from Hearne High School in 1973. In 1975, she joined the US Army, and proudly served for 2 years. During her time in the Army, she was awarded “Sharp Shooter” decoration.

Deborah married Daniel Waskow in 1977 and was married for 4 years. Together they had one son, Brandon Ray Waskow, born August 1, 1977. Being a mother to Brandon was her greatest joy in life, second only to her love of being “Hunny” to her two grandsons, Austin and Barrett.

Deborah worked at her mother’s grocery store in Calvert for many years as a young woman. She later owned several successful businesses. In 2007, she went to work for the Brazos County Courthouse, where she remained a dedicated employee up until the time of her passing. She took great pride in her work, and enjoyed the time spent with her work family.

Deborah enjoyed working hard at whatever she did. Up until her decline in health, Deborah loved being outside and worked daily to keep her yard and gardens pristine. She enjoyed raising animals with Brandon while he was growing up. Once she became a “Hunny,” she spent as much time as she could with her grandsons. She looked forward to attending school and sporting events for the boys. Nothing was more precious to her than time spent with family and loved ones. She loved hosting family meals and holidays for many years.

Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Patsy Wilson-Hailey and Jeff Meadors. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Brandon and Meagan Waskow, grandsons Austin and Barrett Waskow, and step-grandsons, Thorn and Rhyder Humphries, brother and sister-in-law Jeff, Jr. (“Bubba,”) and Mickey Meadors, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

While her family and loved ones will miss her love, spunk and humor, they find comfort in knowing that she is fully restored in Heaven with Jesus Christ.

Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023, 2 p.m. at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center located at 3001 S College Ave., Bryan, TX.
