David Moore

David Joe Moore, a man of great character and knowledge, passed away at the age of 79 on May 7, 2023 at his home in Anderson, Texas after a valiant battle with cancer. As a final act of selfless service, David’s body has been donated to The Willed Body Program at Texas A&M University to aid in research. A celebration of life service and reception with the family will be held at 2PM on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Connecting Point Church in College Station, Texas.

The family has set up a Memorial Scholarship Fund at Texas A&M University to honor David’s legacy of learning and educating. David was born on October 3, 1943, in San Francisco, California, to Joseph Isaac Moore and Nola Mae Moore. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jenni Ann Foster Moore, and four children, Shonda Ann Moore Gibson and husband Johnny from College Station, Mistie Maschael Moore Kibodeaux and husband Chaney from Conroe, David Brent Moore and wife Nikki from Corpus Christi, and Joseph Lee Moore and wife Diana from Cypress. He was a doting grandfather to eight grandchildren: Kasey and Kristina Tomasek, Kade Gibson, Ashlee Moore, Keira Kibodeaux, Madison Moore, George Moore, and Sarah Pearce and Adrian De la Cruz; and five great-grandchildren: Jackie Knutson, Karma Ingram, Knox Tomasek, Kali Tomasek, and Elijah Pearce. David is also survived by his only sister, Chris Heard of Sulphur Springs, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

David Joe Moore lived a life of service, learning, and educating. He graduated from Garland High School in 1961, and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. David continued his education at Texas A&M University, Class of 1974, graduated with a Master of Science in 1975, and studied toward a Ph.D. at Kansas State University. David later became an instructor at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, where he shared his wealth of knowledge and expertise with his students.

David was a man who exemplified the Aggie Core Values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service. He was an active member of the Masons for over 50 years, the Orphan’s Friends Lodge #17 in Anderson, and Connecting Point Church in College Station.

David had a passion for learning and was known as a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He was a successful entrepreneur and business owner, builder of all things, electrical engineer of anything, Civil War historian, poultry expert, and collector extraordinaire.

David Joe Moore will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, Christ follower, a mentor to many, and a man who spent his life in service to others.

His legacy of learning and educating will live on through the Memorial Scholarship Fund set up in his honor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
