David Michael “Mike” Little, age 72 of Bryan, TX, passed peacefully into heaven in his home on October 10, 2023.
Mike was born on February 14, 1951 in Corsicana, TX to Jimmie & Wanda Little of Chatfield, TX. He attended Ennis High School where he played football, was the class president and a member of the national honor society and graduated in 1969. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor of business administration in marketing as a proud member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 1973. One of Mike’s greatest joys was being an Aggie. He loved the traditions, the camaraderie of the 12th man and any opportunity to spend time with family & friends at Kyle Field.
After college, Mike lived in Phoenix, Louisville, Chattanooga and Nashville while working for Shell Oil. After moving around for 5+ years, Mike was ready to return to his Texas roots and be closer to his family. His move back to Texas landed him in Houston where he had a long career in the industrial chemicals field specializing in dry ice. After 20+ years in a big city, Mike was ready for a slower pace. He found his way back to Aggieland where he worked at Ace Fence BCS. In 2012 he partnered with and owned Ace Fence BCS with his son-in-law Jason. Mike retired in 2021.
Mike loved his family and friends deeply, especially his two children Kristen & Grant. He spent time with them any opportunity he had. He wanted them to have a strong connection with their family and did all he could to instill that in them. He loved spending time with them outdoors fishing & hunting, in the kitchen or by the grill, spending time at the beach or river or just sitting on the back porch talking. In addition to his deep love for his family, he adored his friends. Mike & Kay loved entertaining and cooking for them and had an open-door policy, anyone was always welcome! They loved spending time together, with their Aggie group, traveling with friends, cooking together and hosting family and friends. Their most cherished times were when all of their family could be together under one roof. Life at Poppy & Sito’s (as their grandkids call them) was always a fun place to be!
Mike’s final months were spent with lots of meaningful conversations and time with his loving wife, dear friends and family. Old stories were told, laughs and tears were shared, and time together was precious. Ultimately, Mike was ready to meet his maker and be renewed. There is hope and peace knowing he is with Jesus in the kingdom of heaven!
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Jimmie and Wanda Little of Chatfield, and his brother Larry Little of Richardson. He is survived by his wife Kay Bayouth Little, daughter Kristen DeVore and husband Jason of College Station, son Grant Little and wife Lauren of Spring, his 7 grandchildren Greyson, Davis, and Landyn DeVore and Shae, Cole, Brooke and Luke Little. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Peggy Little and Lindsey Rhein, nephew Austin Little and wife Meredith, niece Julianne Little and Jamie Zollars and husband John.
The family wishes to thank all of their friends and family for their prayers and encouragement during Mike’s final days as well as Traditions Hospice and the incredible caregivers who provided compassionate and thoughtful care.
