Daniel Lee Gonzales, 41, of Bryan, Texas passed away on August 15, 2021, following a fight against COVID pneumonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm with the rosary at 6:30 on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the funeral center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church in Hearne. As a precautionary measure the family is requesting all guests attending services to wear a face mask or covering. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Daniel was born on May 6, 1980, to Ruben and Ceferina Gonzales of Hearne, Texas. At an early age Daniel displayed an aptitude for technical and creative hobbies. His banana nut bread and cinnamon rolls were popular with family and friends. After graduating from Hearne High School in 1998, Daniel entered the military. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a cook aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton. His time in the Navy sparked his interest in world travel.
Daniel was a man of many talents and trades. His work career spanned multiple fields including insurance agent, flooring installation, and pot tender at Alcoa. At the time of his death, Daniel was working as an equipment mechanic for Luminant at Kosse Mine.
Daniel was a devoted and loving husband and father who was determined to provide his family with the best life possible. He was extremely proud of his children Nathan, Serenity, Mia, and Alyssa. His wife of 15 years, Lindsey, was also deeply loved and shared his love for travel.
Anyone who knew Daniel recognized that he was a very caring and generous person, who would selflessly roll up his sleeves and provide assistance wherever he could. He had an immense passion for life and loved to travel, read books, try new restaurants, and spend time with his family and friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Ruben “Cookie” Gonzales, and in addition to his friends and extended family, will be greatly missed by his mother Ceferina Gonzales, sisters Jennifer Stanush and Miranda Berrones, and brothers Jared and Christopher Gonzales.
