Charles Truitt

September 19, 1935 — July 14, 2020

Charles (Charlie) Ray Truitt passed away peacefully on July 14, 2020 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. He was blessed to be surrounded by family and friends at the time he went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Charlie was born on September 19, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas. He had an infectious smile and sparkling blue eyes. He never met a stranger, especially when it came to kids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charlie is survived by his three children: Molly Truitt Breitenfeld and spouse John Breitenfeld, Mona Truitt Farrell and spouse Scott Farrell, and Tim Truitt and spouse Sharon Truitt. He had 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who knew him as “Paw-Paw”. Charlie enjoyed many years of traveling around the country and was especially fond of Yellowstone National Park, where he worked for many summer seasons. Charlie was a prostate cancer survivor. Although he faced many health challenges including diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease, he was a determined fighter until the very end.
Charlie graduated Texas A&M University in 1958 with a Civil Engineering Degree. He was a huge Aggie fan his entire life. Even at his passing, Charlie desired to continue that loyalty to his beloved college. In lieu of a funeral and burial, Charlie donated his body to the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, College of Medicine. If you wish to honor the life of Charlie Truitt, donations can be made to Hope Hospice in New Braunfels, Texas. www.hopehospice.net/donations. Please select tribute gift and add Charles Truitt.
Charlie was a lifelong charmer, talker, salesman, lover of life and family. He will be missed by many, but we look forward to our reunion with him one day in Heaven…His blue eyes will be sparkling again!
