Carolyn Ponzio

August 3, 1954 — March 27, 2024

Carolyn Jean Ponzio, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on March 27, 2024, at the age of 69.
Carolyn was born August 3, 1954, in Cameron, Texas, to Eugene & Thelma Rae Brown. She grew up in Bryan, Texas, alongside her big sister Cherry and brothers Larry and Rickie. At 16, she met the love of her life, Paul Ponzio, while carhopping at the Tastee Freeze. Together, they raised three beautiful children Shannon, Shawn, and Sandy.
Carolyn took pride in her homes, and in the creative ways she decorated them. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, traveling, singing, and in her younger days waterskiing at the lake and dancing the night away at Joe Stampley concerts.  She had an incredible work ethic and was a valued employee at several companies over the years, including Brown Shoe Fit, Westinghouse, and Cognizant. She kept an immaculate house and ran a successful home cleaning business for many years, as well. Carolyn loved going to the casino, gardening, and toobing The Horseshoe at the Guadalupe River. She was an incredible cook and baker and found no greater pleasure than showering her family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers with delicious baked goods and homemade meals. Her greatest joy, however, was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Carolyn absolutely adored her family.
Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her sister and brother-in-law, Cherry & JJ Ruffino of Bryan; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Louise Brown of College Station; her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon & Danny Alexander of Bryan; her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn & Nicole Ponzio of Bryan; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy & Mark Kaplan of Linz, Austria. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Max Kirk & Dallas Lentz of New Braunfels; Paul Ponzio of Katy; Zackary Zavala of New Braunfels; Bryan Ponzio of The Woodlands; Cody Ponzio of Linz, Austria; Sarah and Julie Alexander of Fort Worth, and her seven great-grandchildren. Carolyn will also be remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who are as numerous as they were loved.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Paul Ponzio; her parents, Thelma & Gene Brown; her brother, Rickie Ray Brown; and her nephew, Luke Ruffino.
Carolyn will be remembered for her boundless love, unforgettable laugh, generosity, and warmth. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at The Edge Community Center on April 7th, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Enhabit Hospice and Declaration Church, both of Bryan, in Carolyn’s honor.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
