Carol Ann Huff

October 6, 1948 — April 15, 2025

Bryan

Carol Ann Huff, 76, but her favorite name “Nini,” passed away April 15th, 2025 surrounded by her family in Bryan, TX. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, proud Aggie class of ‘75, and a friend to many.

Carol was born to Steve and Jean Gooch on October 6th, 1948 in Waco, TX. She inherited her work ethic from her father, who was a District fire chief and her wisdom and knowledge from her mother who was an accountant. They raised Carol and her four sisters in Houston, TX. Carol was the leader and trailblazer for her sisters and quickly became an admired student at South Houston highschool. Carol was an Honor Roll student and graduated at the top of her class in 1966. Carol was a first generation college student and continued her education at Texas A&M University. She married Michael Huff, she welcomed her daughter, Jeannie in 1968 and Mika followed in 1973. Carol showed true grit and determination, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in 1975, all while working full time and raising her two daughters. Carol, a dedicated Army Officer Wife, was able to pursue her love of traveling with her daughters and beloved mother in tow. They created countless memories and made dear friends along the way. Carol gained her Certified Public Accountant license in 1984. Carol enjoyed a long career of overseeing multiple fiscal departments at Texas A&M University on all levels and was highly respected and admired for her knowledge, work ethic, and her ability to problem solve at a high level. Carol’s career not only consisted of the excellences of her duties, but with her relationships she built with her colleagues and student workers, that extended outside of work hours, creating a lifetime of friendships that will be appreciated by her family for years to come. Carol was a proud Aggie and was awarded the Regents Fellow Service Award in 2015 from the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station for her service and dedication to the TEEXS office. She shared her love for Texas A&M with her family, being a proud Aggie Mom and Nini.

Carol loved being a mother, but her biggest accomplishment was becoming a Nini. Her grandkids were her pride and joy and if you knew Carol, you knew Colton, Justus, Warner, Sophie, Corrie, and Jacie. Carol devoted her life to her kids and grandkids, showing up to every game, class party, award ceremony, graduation and so much more. There wasn’t an event too small for Nini to show her support for her precious grandbabies. If she wasn’t cheering them on at a baseball game, she was bragging about them to her friends. Carol never let her family want for anything and spoiled her grandbabies rotten. She loved taking her grandkids shopping, vacations, Aggie basketball and football games, OPAS, golfing, the zoo, seaworld and anywhere else that she could. Her proudest moments were watching her grandkids at multiple sporting events, and her fondest memories were being a part of the grandparents club at Harvey Little League. Carol was always there for her grandkids and made sure they knew “9-1-1-NINI” and she would be there. She wouldn’t think twice to help, whether she knew you or not. Nini’s house is famously known for being welcoming to anybody and countless friends have memories of the door being open at all times whether it be for a place to sleep or eating Double Dave’s and watching Law and Order on repeat. Carol was not just a Nini to her grandchildren, but everyone she met. Exceeding the expectations of the title grandma continued as she became a great-grandmother, and her fierce love and devotion to her family created lasting memories. Carol was known for being a loyal and devoted friend and enjoyed golfing, Astro’s games, OPAS, The Houston Rodeo and lunch dates with her beloved friends. The most loving and giving friend you could ask for. She had a gift of leaving everyone who spoke to her with a sense of peace and relief. If Carol wasn’t watching a little league game or at lunch with friends you could find her at her treasured lake house. Lake Limestone became a second home for her and her family in 2007. Several of her grandkids caught their first fish and learned how to swim there with Nini cheering them on. The lake house holds so many memories for countless people and will always be cherished. Carol’s greatest joy in life was creating memories with her precious grandchildren that adored her.

Carol is preceded in death by Parents Steve and Ila Jean Martin Gooch.
