Carol Galow

Carol Sue Pflughaupt Galow, 83, passed away June 23, 2022, in College Station TX. She was born February 14, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas to George and Margaret Pflughaupt.

Carol graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio where she served as a purple jacket. She became a registered nurse at the University of Texas at Galveston.

She married Leonard Galow on October 4, 1958, and they lived in Ganado, TX.

The family moved to Bay City, TX in August of 1965 where Carol Galow, R.N. began to work for Matagorda General Hospital. There she worked in the operating room, in obstetrics, and as a case manager. Her nursing experience included home health nurse, teaching, and nursing home director. Carol loved nursing and kept up her nursing skills through continuing education courses.

Upon her retirement from nursing, Carol and Leonard returned to Ganado. She became an active member of St James Lutheran Church. She began to create jewelry, became a Master Gardener, and took Spanish classes. Carol was a great seamstress and made beautiful clothing including her daughter’s wedding dress. She enjoyed painting and flowers. Carol loved to travel.

The family would like to thank Parc at Traditions for the excellent care they provided. Carol donated her body to the Texas A&M Medical School.

Carol was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Leonard Galow, sisters Agnes Janice Corby Swaney and Margery Flo Peace Gartman, brother-in-laws Oscar Galow (Annie) and Louis Galow(Aline), John Owaski and Lewis Stephenson, Sister –in-laws, Viola Webernick (Ray) and Norma Johnson (Arnold).

She is survived by her children Susan Parker (Frank), Paul Galow (Carol) and Brian Galow (Linda), 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sister- in- laws Leona Owaski and Ruth Stephenson and brother- in -law Mason Galow (Edith), and companion Bob Peterson.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 1:00pm at St James Lutheran Church in Ganado Texas.
