Bruce Lynn Shaunfield, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday June 12, 2023. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday June 17, 2023, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3001 S. College Ave, Bryan TX 77801. Lunch will be served in the Callaway-Jones reception room following the service.
Bruce was born January 13, 1950, to Joe Dudley Shaunfield and Mary Browning Shaunfield in Decatur, Texas. Bruce joined the Marine Corps in 1969 and worked as an automotive mechanic attaining the rank of corporal. Throughout his life he worked and excelled as a machinist at Atkins Power Plant, Bryan Machine and Tool, Texas Municipal Power Agency, and he retired from New Southwest Baking Company. He loved his profession and was admired by his colleagues for his skill and ingenuity. Bruce married the love of his life, Rosemary Albritton on November 7, 1981, in Fort Worth, Texas. Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Those who knew Bruce knew him to be artistic, mechanically inclined, and a true Mr. Fix It. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, flyfish, camp, and ride motorcycles. He was a jack-of-all trades and excelled at several hobbies including tying his own flies for fly fishing, intricate knitting, gardening, bow hunting, sharpening knives, bicycling, calligraphy, carving, drawing, writing poems, singing, and bird watching.
His parents, Joe Shaunfield and Mary Browning Shaunfield, brother Paul Edward Shaunfield, and sister Molly Setliff, preceded Bruce in death. Survivors: His loving wife of 41 years, Rosemary Shaunfield; daughter, Sara Shaunfield and husband, Douglas Hoag; daughter, Jessica and husband, Stephen Holt; grandchildren, Logan, Kaleigh, and Abigail Holt; sister, Annette and husband, Ronnie Saunders; stepmother, Anne Shaunfield; several adored nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Sophie. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff who attended and treated Bruce at the Cancer Clinic in Bryan Texas, St. Joseph Hospital, and Traditions Health, and to all his family and friends for their assistance and support.
