Bruce Pool Turley

March 14, 1955 — August 30, 2022

Bruce Pool Turley, loving husband, father of two, and grandfather of five, passed away suddenly at home in Austin, TX on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the age of 67.

Bruce was the third of four children born to Herbert and Margaret (Pool) Turley on March 14, 1955 in San Antonio, TX.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Ernest & Pauline (Knolk) Denham; brother-in-law, Lloyd Sosa; and nephew, Zach Sosa.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kaye (Denham) Turley; his two daughters, Allison (and Paul) Torres and Kimberley Turley; five grandchildren who call him “Papa”- Kannon, Alexa, Braden, Logan and Alivia Torres; his brothers, Hal (and Launa) and Keith (and Janis); sister Barbara Sosa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family whom he cherished immensely.

Growing up on a ranch in his childhood, in & around Boerne, TX, there was always work to be done and fun to be had. Later as a teenager growing up in San Antonio, he loved playing sports, listening to rock records, playing the guitar, and shooting pool at the local YMCA where he worked. Bruce told of these fond memories, especially of the dear friends he had there.
Bruce graduated from Jefferson High School (San Antonio) in 1973 where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Kaye, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple in 1976.

Bruce attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in Finance, Class of ‘79. Whoop! He started as a home builder through the 80’s, even building his in-laws their beautiful custom home and parent’s two custom log homes, before becoming co-owner of a leak detection franchise for over 25 years in San Antonio & Austin, TX. He later became a Master Plumber and opened his own business, until his sudden forced retirement in 2021. Through his work, he helped thousands of people over several decades. Bruce was proficient at his craft, a hard worker, and people loved to work with him. He always had time to help a neighbor or family member, and especially in times they needed his wonderful loving expertise.

Bruce loved all sports, especially basketball and football. He loved to watch his Texas A&M Aggies, Dallas Cowboys, and his hometown team, the San Antonio Spurs. We’ll always remember his love of family, music, scuba diving, golfing, BBQ’ing & special meal making, holidays, and family time on Lake LBJ.

Bruce was exceptional at making everyone who he interacted with feel happy and at ease. His gentle soul and ready for fun demeanor were equal parts of what made him a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. We will miss him dearly, but are comforted to know he is fully healed, reunited with precious family members and friends, and eternally in the loving arms of Heavenly Father.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be held 12:30-1:30 PM followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 2815 Welsh Ave, College Station, TX 77845.

Immediately following the service, Bruce will be laid to rest at the Aggie Field of Honor & Memorial Cemetery in College Station, TX where he can forever watch the Aggies play their favorite game and sway back and forth with the fans while singing the Aggie War Hymn. Gig ‘em, Ags!
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to relieve some financial worry for Kaye & Kim left from Bruce’s sudden health complications from a mixture of long Covid-19 and the vaccine that led to immediate inability to work for the past 1 1/2 years, major surgery, and several hospital stays. Bruce felt so much worry about the care of “his” girls during this lung and heart health crisis and what would happen in the future, especially while they have ongoing rare autoimmune disease medical trials.

Bruce’s family has true heartfelt gratitude for direct donations to the Bruce Turley Family Venmo account:
