Bobby Gerald Slaydon

January 29, 1939 — June 3, 2024

Bobby Gerald Slaydon, 85, of Hilltop Lakes, Texas passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2024 and immediately into the presence of our Heavenly Father.

A celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Flynn on Thursday, June 6, 2024.  A visitation will be at 10:00am with the service at 11:00am. Interment will be at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2:00pm.

Bobby was born the fifth of six children on January 29, 1939 to Emma Susan Slaydon and Samuel Henderson Slaydon of Singer, Louisiana.  He graduated from Merryville High School in 1957.

Bobby answered the Lord’s Call into full-time ministry at a young age and served as pastor to numerous church families over many decades.  He also volunteered in the communities where he lived.

Bobby enjoyed time outside!  Whether he was hunting, gardening, smoking meats, working on a project in the shop, or looking for the next great find at a garage sale, outside was his favorite place.

He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel; mother, Emma; sisters Edith Winfree and husband Bob; Bertha Owens, Bonnie Sargent and husband Don; brother Samuel Ray Slaydon and wife Joyce; and brother-in-law, George Jouban.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deedie Slaydon of Hilltop Lakes, Texas; his children, Martha Barton and husband Eric of Bryan, Texas; Susan Bradbery and husband Tony of Henderson, Texas; Damon Slaydon and wife Tara of College Station, Texas; Scott Slaydon and wife Michele of Midlothian, Texas; stepdaughter Kim Moritz and husband Chad of Donie, Texas; and sister, Frances Anne Jouban of DeRidder, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donations to First Baptist Church Flynn, Texas at 11085 FM 977 West, Flynn, Texas 77871.
