Billy Gene Knott Sr. was born in Corsicana, Texas, and grew up in Rice, Texas, the youngest of five siblings (two brothers and two sisters—all of whom preceded him in death). He attended Ennis High School, graduating in 1964. Soon after, Billy began his long and dedicated career with AT&T in Ennis, Texas, where he served diligently for 34 years. As his career progressed, he moved his family first to Independence, Missouri, then to Houston, Texas in 1973, and finally to Austin, Texas in 1980. Billy retired from AT&T in 1998.
A devoted family man, Billy took great pride in caring for his loved ones. He lovingly looked after his first wife until her passing in 2006 before remarrying Madelyn Avant Knott in November 2007. Together, they established their home in College Station. Billy is survived by his wife, Madelyn; his three sons – Billy Jr. (wife Erin), Steven, and Michael (wife Pamela); and his five cherished grandchildren: Isaac, Carolena, Garrick, Braedon, and Kellan.
Billy was a local church member and actively attended BSF, reflecting his deep commitment to both his faith and community. He had an enduring love for his family, and in his spare time, he enjoyed playing on his computer – a nod to his curiosity and passion for technology that never waned. He is no longer suffering but has found eternal peace and joy in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
