Billy Kirk Reynolds was born at home on June 27, 1935, in El Dorado, AR. He was the eighth child born to Homer Pinson (HP) Reynolds and Amanda Ellen Folsom. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1953. He then went to the University of Arkansas and after his freshman year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954. He served 3 years until he was Honorably Discharged in 1957. After securing the GI Bill, he returned to the U of A and completed his B.S in Business Administration in 1961. During this time, he met Glenda Jane Holloway. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958, in El Dorado, AR.
After graduation, Bill and Jane moved to Shreveport where he was an Underwriting Field Agent for the Travelers Insurance Company. In 1964, they welcomed a son, Eric Scott. In 1966, the three of them moved to the Dallas area. In 1969, the addition of Cynthia Lynn completed the family. Later in 1969, they moved to Carthage, TX where Bill became an Independent Insurance Agent.
Bill and Jane raised their kids in Carthage while owning/operating Reynolds Insurance Agency for approximately 40 years. The family were members of the First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, greeting and joking with guests and members for many years. He served as Panola County Little League Commissioner as well as President of the Carthage Bulldog Booster Club. He was a member of the Carthage Noon Lions Club and he served on the First National Bank Board of Directors. He was a 70+ year member of the Reynolds Hunting Club and the deer camp was one of his favorite subjects to talk and tell stories about, some more than one time. Anyone who ever met Bill quickly realized he had an immense sense of humor, loved to talk and he never met a stranger.
In 2010, Bill retired, and he and Jane moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to family and resided there for 10 years. In 2020, they relocated to College Station following their family. Bill’s greatest enjoyment in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchild. In the latter months of his life, Bill loved to view his digital photo frame that was loaded with pictures of his loved ones as he would smile that wry grin.
Billy Kirk Reynolds is preceded in death by his father, HP Reynolds and mother Amanda Ellen Folsom; brothers, Lance Levier Reynolds, Home Pinson Reynolds Jr, Gerald Dee Reynolds and Pat Reynolds, and sisters, Juanice Girard, Betty Sue Hall and Jackie Liles.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
