The family mourns the passing and celebrates the full, loving life of Betty Sue Foster
Morehead.
Betty was the daughter of Roy Lee Foster and Birdie Inez (Hopkins) Foster. She grew up on the
Foster family dairy farm in Steep Hollow, where all the children helped with the chores. She
dearly loved her parents and siblings.
Betty attended Bryan schools and graduated from the original Bryan High School. Her first job
away from the farm was at Lilly Ice Cream in downtown Bryan. She then attended and
graduated from Mackenzie-Baldwin business school.
It was in downtown Bryan where she met the one and only love of her life, her husband
Leonard Morehead Sr. Betty worked along side of husband for over 40 years at ACME Glass
Co. The couple were members of First United Methodist Church in Bryan where they enjoyed
the Two by Two Sunday school class. Betty was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, The
Woman’s Club, New Horizons, Cub Scout den mother, and an elementary class room mother
for each of her children.
Betty was very proud of her children, Tommye, Leonard Jr., and Mitchell, and loved them very
much. She enjoyed traveling as a family. When her children were young she made sure they
went somewhere most every summer. Her favorite way to travel was to drive and stop at the
road side parks for picnics. In the later years, Betty’s road trips were mainly to Florida to visit
her daughter and her family.
Betty loved the farm life – planting a garden and helping her husband with a small set of cows.
She was known for picking up cubes and molasses blocks at Kimbel Feed Company. Betty
enjoyed guessing which cow would calve first in the season.
Betty believed in the almighty God and Jesus Christ our savior and always put the needs of
others before herself. She loved watching the Great Reverend Billy Graham, even attended one
of his sermons at the Astrodome years ago. She was touched by the story of Reverend
Graham choosing to be buried in a simple wooden casket and asked her family for one similar
for herself.

Floyce Foster and wife Jimma Lou, Allen Foster, baby Foster, sister Patsy Foster Schaffhauser
