Barbara Frances Collier-Foyt passed away on Monday January 13th 2025 at the age of 75. Her parents, Thomas Everett Foyt and Frances Elizabeth Collier welcomed her into the world on October 3rd, 1949 - several years after her brother Thomas E. “Tommy” Foyt, Jr.

As a young girl, she grew up watching her father farm in the Brazos Bottom and her mother run the family business and local post office at Collier’s General Store in the community of Mumford. Barbara was fond of riding horses and playing in the fields and rivers of the Brazos Bottom. She attended Hearne High School, participating in the school marching band as a drum major.

Barbara received degrees from both Baylor and Texas A&M Universities for her undergraduate and masters studies, respectively. She was a passionate reader and writer who spent a number of years as a journalist for the Hearne Democrat where she wrote and supported various causes in Robertson, Milam and Brazos counties, including the preservation of Sugarloaf Mountain in Gause and the histories of families in the Brazos Bottom.

Barbara worked for many years in education and life insurance which took her across the entire state of Texas. When her grandparents Judson Holt “Jud” Collier and Lillian Welch Collier’s health began to decline in the late 1970s, she returned to reside in Mumford with her mother Frances C. Foyt, where she helped continue operations of Collier’s Store. She remained a resident of the community of Mumford for the rest of her life, helping her mother Frances run Collier’s Store and the family farm. Barbara maintained and resided in the Friendsdale Collier Estate of her grandparents Lillian and Jud Collier, which was built in 1912 by her great-grandfather Joseph Robert Collier.

After her mother Frances passed from this world, Barbara continued to maintain farm operations in the Brazos Bottom community of Mumford. In the latter years of her life, Barbara worked with her brother Tommy Foyt to preserve native Brazos river watersheds in collaboration with the Bayou Land Conservancy of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her daughter Christen Alannah Malloy, and her nephew Joseph “Joe” Foyt and nieces Elizabeth Foyt Tellier and Aissa Foyt.
