Barbara Ann Clary

June 17, 1965 — January 9, 2023

Born on June 17, 1965 in West Covina, California to Ron and Peggy Peterson. She met her husband Ron in church in Graham Texas in 1987. They married on July 16, 1988 in Graham and shared a blessed 34 years of marriage. Their love shone for a lifetime and set an incredible example for their three children. Barbara was an exceptionally dedicated educator who had a passion for both teaching and learning. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Abilene Christian University and later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Walden University. She spent twenty-one years of her career teaching at Henry Steubing Elementary in San Antonio, Texas. She also enjoyed her time teaching at Midland Christian in Midland, Christian Heritage Elementary in San Antonio, and Sul Ross Elementary in Bryan. She was an inspiration and was awarded the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching for being one of the best public-school teachers in the San Antonio area. She mentored student teachers from different parts of the country throughout her career, and her mentorship will continue to inspire others. Her love for teaching impacted hundreds of students, and will always be remembered for her kindness, dedication, love, positivity, and hugs.

Those close to Barbara remember the little moments spent together; hosting family events; traveling; her love of flowers and hummingbirds like her father and browsing the shops for a good sale. Her favorite pastimes included watching her beloved San Antonio Spurs; spending time with her dog Parker and her grand dogs Scarlett, Charles and Pickles; she was meticulous at decorating; loved to cook and spent quiet times reading.

She is survived by her mother, Peggy Peterson and husband, Ron Clary; her daughters Jessica Clary and Jenna Clary and son Justin Clary; sisters Darla Bailey; Becky Melchor and Debbie Riggs; brother Dennis Peterson; her in-laws Donald and Wanda Clary; brother-in-law Donnie Clary and wife Tami and David Clary and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father Ronald Peterson.

Barb’s remarkable heart was a gift to all those in her life, and her warm heart and caring demeanor can never be replaced. The love and grace she radiated will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
