Almera Mccoslin

Almera McCoslin, 84, of Hearne, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Hearne. Graveside service will be at 2pm, Sunday, February 26, 2023, in Mt Calvary Cemetery – Smetana. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.

Almera was born in Madisonville, Tx to Charles (buddy) Burr and Elise Jean (Goodrum) Burr. She was the second child of six. Almera graduated from Madisonville High School. She lived most of her life in Hearne, Tx. She loved to knit, read, work jigsaw puzzles and to garage sales looking for treasures. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her little dogs, Tipper, BoBo, and Shelly. Almera also loved her very special friend and companion David Hunter who spoiled her and took care of her.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles Buddy Burr and Elsie Jean Goodrum Burr; her brothers Jimmy Burr and Donald Burr.

Almera is survived by her daughter, Michelle and husband Rick Barrett, and son, James and wife Leza McCoslin; special friend and companion David Hunter. She also has five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Her brother Dwight and wife Gloria Burr; sisters, Nancy and husband George McDonald, and Cynthia and husband Larry Stretz; and sister-in-law, Kay Burr; her numerous nephews and nieces.
