Robert Earl Lane, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 5, 2023 in Bryan TX.
Robert was born on April 5, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri to Bradford and Margaret Emma (Wheat) Lane. He enjoyed a rural upbringing in Raytown, Missouri and was a state champion in shot put and discus in high school. He served four years in the US Army in the Army Security Agency and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Robert attended Central Missouri State and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He moved to Houston to start his career as an accountant with an oil company.
Robert was an avid bowler and also enjoyed golfing and hunting. He held many offices on the Williamson County Board of Realtors, including President.
Robert later moved to Austin and met his wife Linda at a country dance hall. Robert and Linda enjoyed dancing, watching all Longhorn sports, and traveling throughout the United States. They often went on trips to reunite with his Army buddies. He went on the “trip of a lifetime” to Washington, D.C. in 2019 through Honor Flight Austin to visit the memorials dedicated to honor veterans for their service and sacrifice.
Robert was a caring man, he loved his Lord, his family, and friends, and will be greatly missed. We treasure the time we had with him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Bradford and Margaret Lane, brothers Brad Lane and Richard Lane, brothers-in-law John Sifers and Bob Henderson, and great-grandson Emmett Moerbe.
Robert is survived by Linda, his wife of 31 years whom he lovingly referred to as “Babe”; sisters Dorothy Sifers and Darlene Henderson; daughter Kathryn (Steven) Moerbe; sons Gary Lane and Greg (Jackie) Lane; brother-in-law James (Lema) Rose; grandchildren Sierra Berto, Tyler (Katelyn) Moerbe, Aleece Moerbe (fiancé LaDarius Beck), Greyson (Valeria) Lane, Lauren Lane Thomson, and Jennifer Lane; great-grandchildren Emric Moerbe, Liam Moerbe, Alina Lane, Abby Lane, Jeraden Tingley, Ryland Tingley, and Zailyn Tingley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

My deepest condolences to you, Linda, and family. Such a nice man. Will always remember when at the ILC drive through nativity I would not let Mary and Joseph (Bob and Linda) in the inn!
God bless all of you.
