Mr. Raymond Dwight Clark
May 11, 1962 ~ March 1, 2021
Born in:
Glendale, California
Resided in:
Bryan, Texas
Raymond Dwight Clark, 58, of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully at home after a yearlong battle against ALS.
Ray was born in Glendale, California to Ray W and Carol Clark. Moving to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University, he became a transplant Texan always calling Texas home. He spent most of his life in Weatherford, Texas, raising a family and excelling in his nursing career. Ray attended Tarleton State University for his Associate Nursing Degree, then Dallas Baptist University where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Arts in Professional Development. Ray worked in several nursing specialties but found his passion in hospice care. He was recognized and well known across the country as an expert in the field and industry leader.
Although a workaholic, 25/8 was his motto, Ray had passions outside of work. He was a devoted father, always making time to attend the sporting and academic events of his children. His greatest joy was becoming Popsi to three beautiful grandchildren. In 2007 scuba diving piqued his interest, and as with all things he set his cap to he did not do it half-way. Ray spent countless weekends in the water earning every dive certification in existence, becoming a divemaster and assistant instructor. Under the water, Ray was master of the domain. Some of his happiest times were spent below the waves.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet Clark. He is survived by his wife April Rose, son Jason Clark and wife Julia of Mineral Wells, daughter Courtney Clark of North Richland Hills, stepson Justin Kolos of Bryan, stepdaughter Cadie Aleman and husband Alfred of Hallettsville, 3 beautiful grandchildren Cameron, Raelin and Marissa as well as several nieces.

April,
May you have the support and love from all those around you in this tough time and I hope memories of good times with Ray fill your heart.
Thank you Jim. He so enjoyed the time we spent at your pool doing scuba refresher, even though he couldn’t get in he LOVED, being able to coach and seeing your kids get interested in diving. ❤️
Ray lit up every space that he entered and put a smile on the face of everyone he encountered. He was a great listener, a good advisor, and a solid friend. He will be greatly missed.
Thank you Valerie.. So glad we got to see you again not long ago for Mexican and Mojitos. ❤️
I had the privilege of meeting Ray at Universal Health while taking the LVN program it was a pleasure to see how he took so much pride in making sure we all became successful nurses.
My condolences go out to each and every family member and I pray God bless you all with peace and comfort.
Thank you for sharing. Ray absolutely loved to teach and mentor, his legacy will live forever with all the nurses he inspired over his career.
Ray lit up the room everywhere he went is such an understatement! He was bigger than life – he brought joy to everyone he touched. Ray was a mentor and a dear friend and will be greatly missed.
Thank you Libby. He was a force of nature for sure, hard to be in a bad mood when he was sitting near. His smile and positive vibe radiated until you were smiling too. ❤️
Dear April & family, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I looked through a lot of pictures on FB and you can see the fun & love the two of you shared. May God wrap his loving arms around you in comfort.
Take care,
Chelly (Montgomery) White
Thanks so much Chelly. As the song says “wasn’t here for a long time but he sure was here for a good time”. We squeezed a lifetime into 7 short years and I wouldn’t trade a minute. ❤️
Raymond was my nephew and was always an overachiever. My sister, his mother, would be very proud of him. My love and prayers go out to April and his children.
Aunt Dianne
Thank you Dianne
A warm and loving gentleman who will be greatly missed.
Thank you Dr C and Carla for your continued love and support. You were both a big part of his hospice career. He respected you both as colleagues and loved you as friends.
I met April and Ray on a cruise out of New York. They instantly welcomed me at their table, and we bonded over the next 10 days. By the end of our trip I felt like we were best friends! I am a cancer survivor, and Ray and I connected over our cancer journey. He had the BEST outlook and attitude. I was so shocked to learn about the ALS. April, I remember you enjoyed your beer on the cruise. I’m not a beer drinker, but on the day I read about Ray, I had a beer to lift you up. He was such a fun guy in the 10 days I knew him. I honestly can’t imagine your life without him. Big hugs!
Beverly that cruise was the BEST time! So glad we stayed in touch after…maybe one day we will cruise again and have a beer and mudslide in his honor. ❤️
I met Ray during the transition of Hospice Connection to TraditionsHC and upon meeting him he told me he had heard a lot of things about me, good things that is and I smiled and said well thank you. Ray put smiles on faces within seconds of meeting him. Mr. Ray Clark will be missed
Ray could walk into an office for the first time but you would think he’d been there a dozen times by the time he left. He had a way of endearing himself to the team in record time.
May God bless you all with the peace and comfort that only He can give.
With love and respect
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
April. I know that Ray was your soul mate. I am so sorry you had such a brief time together. Thinking and praying for u

April, I’m very sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Ray that day we ran into yall in Hallettsville and he seemed like a super nice guy. After reading Ray’s Obituary and watching his Tribute Video it’s easy to see that he lived a fulfilling life in his family, career and hobbies and that you were a very large part of his happiness and blessing in his life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Sincerely Steven Boehm & Family

April, I’m sorry that I was not able to attend the live service but wanted to tell you that you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers for peace. It’s abundantly evident how well loved and respected Ray was, with myself included in that fan base. Now you must carry on amidst that painful void so I’m sending a prayer that the Lord’s grace be the footprints in the sand, carrying you and your family forward towards days of comfort and joy. Sending loving thoughts your way.
