Paul Martin DeHerrera, born on May 8, 1969, was called home by the Lord on May 28, 2023. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Paul was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a beautiful journey with his loving wife, Leslie DeHerrera, and their marriage was filled with love, commitment, and cherished memories.

Paul was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and made Texas his home in 1992. He devoted over three decades of his life to Union Pacific Railroad, where he excelled as a skilled and dedicated welder. His unwavering commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company, earning him the respect and admiration of all those he worked with. Paul’s expertise and passion for his craft were evident in every project he undertook, and his contributions to the railroad industry will be remembered for years to come.

Family was the heart and soul of Paul’s life. He was a devoted father to his children and a proud grandfather. His son, Brandon Paul DeHerrera, his wife Miranda, and their children Korinne, Evelyn, Monroe, Tesla, and Luna held a special place in his heart. Paul also shared a close bond with his son James Martin DeHerrera and his daughter Lily Anna Grace. His daughter Megan Crystal DeHerrera and son Elijah John were also deeply loved by their father.

Paul’s memory will be forever cherished by his mother, Delphi Jacoby, as well as his siblings Veronica Lawrence, Mike DeHerrera, Alonzo DeHerrera, Elizabeth DeHerrera, Charlie DeHerrera, Marcus Espinoza, Marie Jensen, Curtis Espinoza, and Elka Madina.

Known for his incredible sense of humor, Paul had the gift of bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He possessed a strong will and an enormous heart filled with love for the Lord. Paul approached each day with optimism, viewing it as a new beginning. His peaceful nature and ability to let things go were an inspiration to all who knew him. One of his trademarks was wearing his shirt inside out for comfort, which often became a source of comedy and conversation. Paul’s presence and treasured memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Music was an integral part of Paul’s life. He could always be found with his beloved Bose speaker, immersing himself in his favorite tunes and sharing his passion for music with others. His enthusiasm for life and his infectious energy will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Max DeHerrera. We take solace in knowing that they are reunited in eternal peace.

  12. Father God, welcome Paul into Your kingdom. As he enters Your kingdom, let the voices ring out, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43). Father God, allow Paul to spend eternity surrounded and reunited with lost loved ones and all those near and dear to our heart.

Bring peace to Leslie and all grieving the loss of their granfather, father, uncle, brother, cousin, and amazing friend. Paul touched the hearts of many and was prepared to enter the kingdom as “the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

Leslie, and all reading these words,
no one may be able to understand the gaping hole of loss that you feel, but God is longing to comfort you in your grief and loss. Come to Him and allow His inspired Word to speak life and healing over your broken heart. Let us rejoice at Jesus’ victory over death and the neverending gift of heaven and all her rewards.
