With broken hearts, we announce the passing of another cherished family member, Patricia (Pat) Pitts Ball.
Pat was born to Eugene & Inez (Beatrice) Pitts in Benton Harbor, Michigan and was raised in Anderson, Indiana with her siblings, Jean Katherine, William (Bill/Bub) and C. Michael (Mike) Pitts. In her late teen years, Pat moved to Chicago, Illinois and met & married her only husband, Charles (Charlie/Bubba) Ball of Bryan, and she resided in Texas for the remainder of her life. To their marriage was born, Debi, Randy and Jodie.
Pat loved to sew for their home and girls, she had a green thumb like no other, did hair modeling, sold cosmetics-attending many conferences, loved her family, daily books & crossword puzzles, jeopardy, cooking, going on long walks and bravely took airplane flying lessons in Houston. She worked for a dental lab, Bryan Texas Utilities, Credit Bureau in Bryan, apartment locator/manager in Austin & Houston, real estate agent and home builder sales rep. in Katy, where she resided in her beautiful home. Before retiring, she worked for Stewart Title Houston scanning division until the job phase was completed.
Pat quit smoking after many years and overcame alcohol dependency like a champ. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s & Dementia and COPD/lung diseases. Through everything, she never lost her sense of humor and quick wit, entertaining many around her daily. She taught us to get back up no matter how you feel, the day is a new day, you can make the best of it. She never lost her drive, she sweetly said, I am ready to fly high.
Pat was preceded in death by her former husband, Charlie Ball, son, Randy Ball, eldest daughter, Debi Ball, parents, Eugene & Beatrice Pitts, brother, Mike Pitts, sister, Jean Katherine (Pitts) Mathews, sister-in-law, Rachel Pitts, numerous aunts/uncles, cousins, extended family members, Ball/Reeves family members, Alan Field, Belinda Hammond, best friend, Donna Grubb and her precious cats, Beau & Bonnie.
Pat is survived by her youngest daughter, Jodie (Ball) Hodges; grandchildren, Scott Hodges, Amanda Ball, Charles Ball, Sara Murphy and husband, Patrick Murphy, and Joshua Ball; great grandchildren, Camryn Lizotte, Caleb Lizotte & Casey Lizotte; brother, William (Bill/Bub) Pitts and sister-in-law, Beverley Pitts, brother-in-law, Doug Mathews and wife, Pam Mathews, sister-in-law, Gayla Pitts; numerous nieces & nephews, including her eldest niece, Terry Mathews Long, who kept her entertained with many postcards, cards & letters, and niece, Blair Reeves, who checked on her frequently; extended family members, Ball/Reeves family members, Kathy Smith, Jerry & Cookie Nucker, Tony & Jennifer Morton, Becky Brewer Smith and Gus Brewer.
The family is grateful for all the outpouring of prayers, love and life-long friendships, and our wonderful family members.
A big thanks of appreciation with God’s Special Blessings to all that cared for Pat, at Legacy Nursing Home (formerly Generations), Lampstand Nursing home, Sherwood Nursing Home & Crestview Place Apartments. Her nursing home journey began with her precious nurse friend, Lee Ann Crouch; activity director and sweet friend, Tish Alexander, who took her on many fun field trips and showed up quickly for one last visit; and when she left for Heaven, with Pat and Jodie were her dedicated Legacy Nurse, Jackie Ramirez, her friend/roommate, Viriginia Castleberry, many Legacy friends with hugs & prayers, lining the hallway, quickly followed by her caring hospice nurse, Rachel and Chaplain Rick with Traditions, and Amelia DelaRosa with Callaway Jones, arriving in minutes and has been wonderful during this very sad time.
In lieu of flowers at graveside, please consider charitable donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of America, the American Lung Association or Aggieland Humane Society in Bryan.
