December 9, 1977 ~ August 26, 2023

Born in: Hobbs, New Mexico
Resided in: Bryan, Texas

Misty Kay Ryburn was born on December 9th, 1977, to Wesley and Phyllis Ryburn in Hobbs, New Mexico. As their first born, she got them off and running in the world of parenthood, she was their pride and joy. Growing up, her favorite pastime was swimming, it didn’t matter if the water was too cold or too hot, Misty wanted to be in it. She loved being outdoors and family vacations with her siblings, Christy and Shaun.

On February 8th, 2003 Misty married Jeremy Meads. Ten and a half months later they welcomed their first and only child, Jordan Brett Meads. After 13 years of marriage, Jeremy was tragically taken from Misty in 2016 due to a motorcycle accident. After losing her husband, Misty found her true passion in helping lost souls find their way back. She started with cats, but it didn’t take long for her to move on to people. Without fail, family was the most important thing to Misty, and her family always had room for one more. Misty opened up her home and her heart to people who were down on their luck.

Last year, she was able to watch her pride and joy, Jordan, graduate high school. She was so happy watching him walk across the stage to get his diploma. It brought back all of the memories of her time in Shy-Anne’s at Bryan high and her graduation in 1996.

On Thursday, August 24th Misty was found unresponsive in her home, and it was determined that she had a brain bleed. Her heart fought to keep her with us, we watched it beat and beat and beat on the monitor. Unfortunately, the damage done to her brain was irreversible. Even in death Misty said, “The show must go on, by giving once again”, Jordan made the decision to donate her organs to help as many as she can.

Our earth angel earned her Heavenly wings on August 26th, 2023. Misty is preceded in death by her husband, Jeremy. Her grandfathers; Bobby and Bowlen. Her grandmother, Patricia. Her father-in-law, Billy. Her aunt, Jarvis. Her Uncle Warren. And her best friend, Krisha.

Misty leaves behind her son, Jordan. Mother and Father; Wesley and Phyllis. Sister, Christy. Brother, Shaun. Mother-in-law, Joyce. Brothers-in-law; Jeff, Joe and Justin. Nieces; Cadence, Maddison and Rebecca. Nephews; Robert, Jackson and Dylan. And numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.

  15. Wes, Phillis, Christi, Jordan, and Family–

I only knew Misty as a baby while in Hobbs, but from what I have read she must have been a really amazing woman, one that I would be exceptionally proud to call my cousin. I just wish I would have had the opportunity to get to know her as an adult.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through the coming days and weeks of adjusting to the new normal. Love and hugs to you all!!!
